About Dr. Edward P. Pope
Dr. Edward P. Pope
Candidate for U.S. House of Representatives Florida’s 16th Congressional District
I am not a career politician. I am a tested leader forged through service, strengthened by education, and proven through executive leadership. I am running to represent Florida’s 16th Congressional District because I believe leadership is earned through action, accountability, and results.
I am a United States Navy veteran, where I first learned the enduring values of discipline, duty, and fidelity to the Constitution. I carried these principles into 14 years of distinguished law enforcement service across the municipal, county, and state levels. Throughout my career, I served on the State SWAT Team, as a Firearms Instructor, Field Training Officer, and certified Traffic Homicide Investigator, and as a member of the Presidential Protection Team. In the course of my service, I was credited with saving a number of lives in the line of duty.
I also hold a unique distinction within the Florida Highway Patrol — I am the only trooper ever named “Trooper of the Month” three times in a single year for three separate acts of bravery, and twice again the following year. Throughout my career, I was honored as State Trooper of the Year, Troop F Trooper of the Year twice, Charlotte County Trooper of the Year three times, and Southern Regional International Trooper of the Year, an honor presented to me in Washington, D.C. My service was also recognized with the Tampa Bay Rays Officer of the Year Award, the Florida Highway Patrol Certificate of Outstanding Enforcement, and the Florida Department of Health Caring Hands Award for actions taken in service to the community. One of the most notable cases I worked involved the apprehension of convicted murderer Michael King, a case that was later featured nationally on ABC’s 20/20.
But leadership does not stop with wearing a badge. For the past 24 years, I have served in the private sector and currently operate as the Chief Operating Officer of a medical logistics and shipping company responsible for transporting life-saving medications and critical medical materials. I oversee complex regulatory compliance, strategic operations, and multimillion-dollar budgets. I understand supply chains, federal regulations, fiscal responsibility, and how policy decisions directly impact businesses and families. I have created jobs, managed risk, and delivered results — not rhetoric.
My academic background reinforces this experience. I hold a doctorate and two master’s degrees. During my doctoral studies, my academic performance and GPA earned me induction into several prestigious honor societies, including Alpha Phi Sigma – The National Criminal Justice Honor Society, Omega Nu Lambda – The National Online Honor Society, and the Golden Key International Honour Society.
I am also a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success and Disabled American Veterans, organizations that reflect my continued commitment to leadership, service, and supporting those who have served our nation. My education has provided advanced expertise in crisis leadership, public safety policy, behavioral analysis, and organizational command — skills urgently needed in Congress as America faces border insecurity, rising crime, national security threats, and growing distrust in government institutions.
Beyond my professional life, I believe strongly in investing in the next generation. I have coached high school baseball and soccer, volunteered with the YMCA and Special Olympics, and supported the Homeless Coalition in strengthening families and serving vulnerable individuals. Strong communities are built through involvement, mentorship, and accountability. Most importantly, I am a devoted husband and father of five. My wife and I adopted two of our children to give them a second chance at opportunity and stability. Today, one is in college and ROTC pursuing a future as an Air Force pilot, and another is studying with aspirations of becoming a medical doctor. My family is not a talking point — it is the reason I fight for safe neighborhoods, economic opportunity, parental rights, and constitutional freedoms.
Florida’s 16th District deserves a representative who understands law enforcement, national security, executive leadership, and the real-world consequences of federal policy. It deserves someone who has worn the uniform, balanced budgets, led teams under pressure, and delivered measurable outcomes. I bring courage without compromise, experience without excuses, and leadership without ego. I am not running to build a political career — I am running to protect the way of life that makes this country worth fighting for.
“Service. Leadership. Results.”
